Dr. Gordon Slater is an internationally recognised orthopaedic surgeon specialising in foot and ankle conditions, sports injuries, and trauma. Holding an MBBS, FRACS (Orth), and Fellowship with the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA), he brings decades of expertise to patient care.

A graduate of the University of New South Wales, Dr. Slater completed advanced foot and ankle training at New York’s world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in 1997. He was among the first in Australia to adopt Minimally Invasive Techniques (MIT), offering patients faster recovery, less pain, and improved outcomes.

Widely published and a frequent conference presenter, Dr. Slater has contributed to leading medical texts, served as Associate Editor of Foot and Ankle International, and sits on the Editorial Panel of EC Orthopaedics. His global training and approach continue to set new standards in orthopaedic surgery.

Approach

Dr Slater earned his medical degree from UNSW in 1987 and completed his orthopaedic residency in 1991. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1997. That same year, he completed advanced foot and ankle training at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery.

Minimally Invasive Techniques​

An early adopter of Minimally Invasive Techniques (MIT) in foot and ankle surgery in Australia, Dr. Slater routinely treats bunions and deformities using MIT. These techniques offer smaller incisions, quicker recovery, less pain, and improved cosmetic results.

Education and Training

Dr. Slater earned his medical degree from UNSW in 1987, completed his orthopaedic residency in 1991, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1997. That same year, he undertook advanced foot and ankle training at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery.
